Canadian Environmental Auditing Association

Who are we?

We are environmental auditing practitioners, dedicated to furthering the development and practice of environmental auditing. The Canadian Environmental Auditing Association (CEAA) was founded in 1991.

Our mission is to encourage the development and discipline of environmental auditing and the improvement of environmental management of public and private organizations through environmental auditor certification and the application of environmental auditing ethics, principles and standards.

We are a multidisciplinary organization open to all individuals directly or indirectly involved with environmental auditing. Our international membership base includes environmental managers, ISO 14001 registration auditors, EMS consultants, corporate environmental auditors, engineers, chemists, government employees, accountants and lawyers.

CEAA is exclusively for environmental auditors. By limiting our auditor certification and other services strictly to environmental auditing, we are able to service our members at all stages of their careers. Through our newsletter "The Auditorial" and annual conferences we deliver state of the art information needed for professional growth. Our internationally recognized environmental auditor certification programs are broad in scope and include the senior level "Certified Environmental Auditor" (CEA) designation for those environmental professionals with extensive training and experience.

What do we do?

Our major activity is the certification of environmental professionals based on their credentials and audit experience. Details of our certification services are found under Auditor Certification Programs. Recognition of our certification process and designations is of critical importance to our members and CEAA is now accredited by the Standards Council of Canada as a certifying body for EMS Auditors.

Over 200 environmental auditors have been certified to date. CEAA maintains an Auditor Registry of its Certified Auditors. These individuals have met the stringent CEAA certification requirements and are recognized for their abilities and auditing expertise.

CEAA publishes "The Auditorial", a quarterly newsletter that provides members with updates on environmental auditing matters. International developments and perspectives are featured in this publication. The latest on ISO 14001, TC 207 and auditing techniques and opportunities are found in the Auditorial.

The 2006 CEAA AGM and Technical Conference will be held in Calgary, Alberta, on October 18 to 20, 2006.  For further information, please visit the CEAA Technical Conference and AGM page.
